Description

This session will cover radiographic assessment of dental images including intraorals, orthopantomograms and lateral cephalograms. The radiographic appearance of a range of pathologies related to the maxilla, mandible and teeth will be discussed.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe a range of oral diseases and congenital abnormalities
• Recall the various pathologies demonstrated on intraoral images
• Describe common pathologies demonstrated on orthopantograms
• Describe the abnormal findings on a lateral cephalogram

Andrew Woodhouse and Neil Boland

Andrew Woodhouse -
Andrew is a Senior Radiographer currently employed with City Hospitals Sunderland. He has been qualified for six years and specialised in various areas of radiography including dental imaging. Along with several colleagues he is responsible for running the dental department, training and quality assurance programmes.


Neil Boland -
Neil is a senior radiographer at Sunderland Royal hospital. He has worked for trusts in the UK and Ireland for the past 5 years.

Neil has a keen interest in dental radiography and chose to specialise in this area afterjoining Sunderland in 2014. He has also specialised in CT and regularly scans patients for different facial and oral pathologies which aides his knowledge and understanding when working in Dental x-ray
