Description

This session is designed to help you take a focused history from a patient presenting with an acute red eye and to help form a differential diagnosis, even before you examine the eye.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Explain a specialist ophthalmic history, with particular reference to those presenting with an acute red eye
• Outline a structured plan to examine the eye, with particular reference to assessing a patient with an acute red eye

Rosemary Robinson is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Clinical Lead for glaucoma at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and the West Midland Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Rosemary has always held a particular interest in medical education and completed a Masters degree in Medical Education at the University of Warwick in 2008. She was Head of School for Ophthalmology, Health Education West Midlands (2009-2014), having been associated with postgraduate education for 17 years.

She has a particular interest in assessment and played a lead role in the development of the first RCOphth clinical and educational supervisor reports which are now an everyday element of the ARCP process.
