Description

This presentation will introduce participants to the biological, ecological, and aesthetic dimensions of trees including how they grow in the urban environment. We will discuss how trees and the law intersect covering jurisdictions, real property, liability, valuations, and views and conclude with strategies for navigating the legal, financial, and emotional terrain of these cases.

Joseph Maurer, Omni Mediation Joseph Maurer mediates with Omni Mediation in real estate, neighbor, and family disputes. He has a background in nonprofit and corporate training, wellness, facilitation, and coordination. Joseph has trained countless individuals in positive communication and emotional safety skills, nonviolent crisis intervention, and mediation. He teaches the Tree and View class for community mediators at SEEDS Community Resolution Center. He studies Landscape Horticulture (and enjoys the views!) at Merritt College in the Oakland hills.
