Description

This session provides an overview on the principles, practices, nomenclature, patient work-up
and management of the pediatric patient in the chiropractic internist office.

Objectives

At the end of the session, the student will have a detailed understanding of:
 Your role in the health of the pediatric population.
 Milestones and normal development.
 Recognition, diagnosis and treatment of common childhood complaints.
 Recognizing and responding appropriately to pediatric emergent issues.
 Your responsibilities regarding child abuse and recognize symptoms of such.
 Recognizing and responding to nutritional need, deficiencies and toxicities.
 The far reaching health effects of nutrition and a healthy functioning digestive system.
 Long term impact of lifestyle on the pediatric population and how to educate and
influence the parents and child.
 How the role of a chiropractic internist can benefit the pediatric population.

A DABCI degree (Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists) requires doctors to attend and complete a 300 hour post doctorate course, pass a national certification examination and requires 12 hours of continuing education in advanced coursework each year. The DABCI program is recognized by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and certified by the American board of Chiropractic Internists (ABCI). The DABCI program is also one of 6 programs recognized and approved by the American Board of Chiropractic Specialties (ABCS). Seminars within the DABCI programs are accepted for CEU’s required for recertification by the the following boards.
