Description

This session will provide an overview of the various regional mandibular blocks used to obtain anaesthesia. It will also describe the methods of administration.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List the regional nerve blocks of the mandible and demonstrate knowledge of their use
• Describe the administration of the regional nerve blocks of the mandible
• Describe how to administer a long buccal infiltration
• Identify the tissues anaesthetised by each block and a long buccal infiltration

Jennifer Harte obtained her BDS at Newcastle University in 2008 and her MFDS at Edinburgh in 2010, whilst working as a General Professional Trainee. She is currently working at Bristol Dental Hospital as a Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
