Description

This activity provides pharmacists, nurses, and allied healthcare providers with a contextual overview of HIV diagnostics, epidemiology, and economics in both adult and adolescent populations. Worldwide and U.S. incidence of HIV is compared along with transmission vectors, mortality rates, and economic impact of the disease. There is a discussion of current HIV testing options, as well as which sub-populations should be tested and when.

Objectives

On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
1. Discuss the epidemiology of HIV
2. Describe the economic impact of HIV
3. Recommend HIV screening and testing recommendations of currently available HIV tests
