Description

The Generalist’s Guide: Approaches to the Care of the Adolescent Patient eModule, developed in
collaboration with the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, reviews
techniques to promote an optimal adolescent–provider visit, and effective techniques to obtain a
confidential reproductive health history from an adolescent patient. The unit also explores how to
disclose the limits of confidentiality, handle disclosures, and conduct comprehensive contraceptive
counseling with adolescents. Finally, the unit reviews the efficacy of available contraceptive methods for adolescents, and presents four case studies of diverse patients in need of counseling and/or contraception.
