Description

The Generalist's Guide: Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecologic Emergencies eModule, developed in association with the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, reviews how patients who present to the emergency department have different presenting symptoms, diagnoses, and admission needs than adult patients. The unit also reviews methods of evaluation and management for adolescents, and covers effective communication and awareness as to when PAG patients may need referrals and also when the patient may benefit from a pediatric admission versus admission to an adult service.

Objectives

Identify the most common pediatric and adolescent gynecologic (PAG) emergencies
On completion of the course the learner will be able to identify the most common pediatric and adolescent gynecologic (PAG) emergencies.
Explain the consent process when treating minors in the emergency setting
