Dr Ramesh.S.Ve has over 10 years of academic, clinical and research experience. He did his Masters of Philosophy in optometry and completed his Doctorate (PhD) in 2014 from Elite School of Optometry, Affiliated to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. His thesis was aimed at estimating 5 year progression of glaucoma, both structural and functional changes evaluated using ophthalmic imaging and perimetry tests. He is currently an Associate professor, Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University. He has received the Indo-US Public Health Research fellowship-2014 and complete the 6 month fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. He has 47 research articles in peer reviewed indexed journals and has filed 1 patent. His areas of interest include clinical epidemiology of eye diseases, Telemedicine, Innovative & disruptive technology development to meet public health need for effective eye care delivery. He also has a keen interest towards techno-entrepreneurship and has help developed semi-automated optic nerve head analysis software (CyOptique-GL), beta version is commercially available in India. His work on cost effective portable imaging device OcuDA, won the Gold Medal for best innovation at the DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme-2013. He has received national and industry research grants. He is nominated mentor for the DST Lockheed martin India Innovation Growth Program 2015. He actively supports, promotes & mentors two student startups, VISINT Healthcare Pvt Ltd & Fracktal Works Pvt Ltd, incubated at Manipal University Technology and Business Incubator and has been instrumental in starting VISINT Health Care Pvt Ltd. He holds the post of Honorary secretary Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry- India (2012-2015) and member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society, USA. He is active member and the steering committee member of Institutional Research Committee, SOAHS, Manipal University.
