Description

This activity focuses on the need for timely initiation of insulin therapy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Faculty discuss the efficacy and limitations of newer insulin preparations and review strategies for effectively integrating prandial insulin therapy into treatment regimens. Faculty also take a focused look at provider and patient barriers that can prevent appropriate insulin therapy and discuss strategies to overcome these challenges.

The learner is required to pay a monthly membership fee to the provider in order to take this course.

Objectives

On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
1. Describe timely initiation of insulin therapy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
2. Describe efficacy and limitations of newer insulin preparations
3. Review strategies for effectively integrating prandial insulin therapy into treatment regimens
4. Explain provider and patient barriers that can prevent appropriate insulin therapy
5. Describe strategies to overcome these challenges.
