This is a featured CE activity on the Center for Specialty Pharmacy Education (CSPE) website. CSPE is the educational hub of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP). This activity was originally presented during the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy Fourth Annual Meeting & Expo held in Washington, DC. During this session, the participant will hear from experienced Payer executives with decades of experience as they review and discuss the importance and evolution of the Payer- Specialty Pharmacy Relationship. Learn about current and future innovative service collaborations that can differentiate specialty pharmacies and further add to their value proposition in clinical and benefits management.

Learning Objectives:The target audience for this activity is pharmacists. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:List 5 minimum standards important to Payers that Specialty Pharmacy need to provide to be even considered for some Payer RFPs.Describe at least 3 different innovative services that Specialty Pharmacy has developed and provided to Payers that have demonstrated improved care and lower costs.Outline variables to consider for constructing a new program or intervention that will help address and mitigate an important issue being faced now or in the future by health care providers, members or Plans regarding specialty medication.Identify the key issues that Payers will need addressed and the value added by specialty pharmacy relative to a new specialty drug being available on the market.
