Description

In this activity, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Ali-Reza Shah-Mohammadi, PharmD, MS, FISMP, describes common preventable adverse events and their causes with opioid therapy; identifies effective strategies to improve the safety of prescribing, dispensing, and administering opioids; and discuses the select the use of appropriate drug-specific metrics for opioids. The lecture was originally recorded at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy's annual Hospital Pharmacy Practice Seminar, held on June 3-4, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Target Audience: This course is designed for pharmacists. Program Design: This course is presented in a lecture format, available via MP4 files, and is accompanied by PDFs of the presenter's PowerPoint slides.  A post-test and program evaluation will be completed after reviewing the  presentation.  The post-test and evaluation must be completed BEFORE June 2018. Note:  The video and PDF documents were developed to work on most computers, tablet, and smartphones.
