Description

FERPA (Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act) for Preceptors and Student Interns NOTE:  The content of this activity was developed specifically for UT Austin Preceptors.  However, any preceptors in the state of Texas are welcome to take this course if the content is deemed appropriate. This activity, FERPA (Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act) for Preceptors and Student Interns , provides an overview of the federal law on restriction of student information, and how the law impacts the student / preceptor relationship and learning process. The program provides case studies on information disclosure as well as ways to help safeguard student, preceptor, and host organizaiton from common law violations. The activity was originally presented at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy’s annual Preceptor Orientation and Training Conference , held on August 2, 2014. This program includes a one-hour video of the live conference presentation, a PDF copy of the presentation slides, post-test, and evaluation. NOTE:  Preceptors :  This CPE activity counts towards the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Licensing requirements for Preceptors of "three hours of pharmacist preceptor training provided by an ACPE approved provider within the pharmacist's current license renewal period." ( TX Administrative Code Title 22, Part 15, Chapter 283, rule 283.6, Section 3, B, II, ii)
