Description

The purpose of this activity is to educate pharmacists to prepare to expand their pharmacy operations for immunization compliance. Immunization compliance is more than having a standing order. The pharmacy must ensure they have liability insurance that covers the dispensing of immunizations, policies and procedures, intake forms, OSHA requirements including Bloodborne Pathogen Plan. There are many requirements that are needed for immunizations with very little mandates until an patient has a reaction to the vaccine, this is when the liability insurance company starts requesting Policies and Procedures and all the items mention above.

Objectives

Objectives
At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Recognize the governing organizations to perform immunizations
2. Discuss Standing Orders & Emergency Protocols
3. Discuss the need for a policy and procedure manual beyond Standing Orders
4. Describe how Immunizations are considered a MTM Intervention
5. Explain how Immunizations provides new revenue streams
