Description

The Power-Point based presentation will include a brief history of clinical pharmacy services in the community pharmacy including MTM, travel immunizations, and discharge counseling opportunities as well as provide information to pharmacists how to create physician-based clinical pharmacy protocols and how to bill for clinical pharmacy services. The presentation is interactive and requires active participation from audience members in order to take home actual sample clinical pharmacy protocols and billing documents.

Objectives
At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Define Clinical Pharmacy Services
2. Describe the historical expansion and lawful procurement of clinical services in a community pharmacy setting.
3. Identify the requirements to offer clinical pharmacy services in a community setting.
4. Recognize the steps needed to establish a physician-based clinical pharmacy proptocol in the community pharmacy setting.
5. Develop a sample physician-based clinical pharmacy protocol for use in community pharmacies.
6. Identify and document the requirements for billing for clinical pharmacy services in the community setting.

Anna Brozick, PharmD, MM Anna H. Brozick, Pharm.D., M.M. consults with independent pharmacies in the greater Houston area to develop and expand clinical pharmacy services to serve the needs of their patients and communities. In her diverse pharmacy career, Anna has worked in a variety of practice settings including the emergency room, oncology, hospice, home infusion, community-chain pharmacy, Medicare (Part D) coverage determination and academia. Anna's greatest passion is working with students and colleagues to expand.Anna H. Brozick, Pharm.D., M.M. consults with independent pharmacies in the greater Houston area to develop and expand clinical pharmacy services to serve the needs of their patients and communities. In her diverse pharmacy career, Anna has worked in a variety of practice settings including the emergency room, oncology, hospice, home infusion, community-chain pharmacy, Medicare (Part D) coverage determination and academia. Anna's greatest passion is working with students and colleagues to expand the pharmacist's role and emphasize lifelong learning. As a public speaker, Anna has presented at more than thirty regional, state and national pharmacy conferences including her second appearance at the Texas Pharmacy Association this July. She welcomes participants to provide feedback, to contact her and to stay engaged in the discussion of clinical pharmacy services in the independent pharmacy setting.
